Bad Mommy!!

I am the worst lately! It has been two months since I posted on here - sorry Ridgers!! Mommy's slacking on your blog, but I'm swamped. Here's the updates on what you do:
*crawl at lightning speed
*pull to standing and go back down to sitting
*cruise on any and all furniture
*push your John Deere tractor and lion all around the room
*you love to pull on and play with wires!! Yikes! Coming out of the wall, computer, cell phones, etc.
*you say Dada, Bye-bye, Mama, Bubba
*You're pretty much getting over your pacifier these days, but still nurse to sleep at night time.
*You eat veggies, fruits, cereals, yogurt, snackies ('not a cheetos', yogurt melts, etc.) and chicken!
*At your 9-month check up you weighed 22 1/2 (80th %ile), were 29 1/2 inches (90th %ile) and your head circumference is at the 97%th percentile!! Big brains!! ;)

You are so much fun at this stage!! Mommy and Daddy love you so so much!

6 Months

Ridge is now 6 months old. He weighed 19 lbs 13 0z (75th - 90th %ile) and was 29 inches long (90th %ile) at his 6-month check-up. He is sitting up independently, 'inch-worming', scooting when sitting up on his bottom, and doing lots of babbling and 'vocalizing' (a.k.a. screaming just to hear himself scream). Fun! ha! He's a really good eater - he eats rice cereal and fruit (banana or pear) in the morning and rice cereal and veggie (carrot, sweet potato or squash) in the evenings. We just added lunch this week (a veggie and a fruit). I am still making all his solids in the Beaba cooker -- if you don't have one, I highly recommend it. It's a breeze to make homemade baby food! Also, Ridge has his first tooth!! I found it on Thanksgiving day while we were still at the table. Exciting! I couldn't get a picture of it though -- he sticks his tongue out when I try to feel it and covers it up. I'll work on it though!

Ridge is growing and changing so fast! He weighs 19 pounds now. He has started drinking apple juice/water mixture from a sippy cup. He's starting to creep a little at a time. And he grabs onto anything and everything in reach (as I type he's trying to clear this desk & put everything in his mouth!!) Still no teeth! Oh and he sits up like a charm now! Beth called me at work yesterday to say he sit up outside and watched the bigger kids play for 17 minutes!!

We got Ridge's Halloween costume on the mail -- the cutest Rhino costume ever!! Also, I ordered & received by Beaba baby food steamer/processor over the weekend, so we tried that out tonight. Ridge loves sweet potatoes!!

We had our 4-month well-baby and shots this past week (a little late because we had an ear infection and couldn't get them any sooner). He weighed 17 pounds, 10 1/2 ounces (>90th percentile), was 27-inches long (97th percentile) and his head circumference was 17 1/4 inches (90th percentile). He's still not sleeping all the way through the night (except for one night this week - woohoo!). And we are definately teething! Lots of drool & he is putting everything possible into his mouth! We started rice cereal last week & we will probably wait until next month to start some veggies. Also, he is starting to sit up by himself for a few moments at a time...

We are venturing into the worlds of solid foods this week. We started rice cereal Wednesday night & Ridge did great with it. He was swallowing most of it & did not get a tummy ache at all. I was very excited! He is a super happy baby these days. Having a nap schedule has improved his overall happiness I do believe! :)

I am getting worse & worse at updating Ridge's blog. This going back to work business is for the birds! HA! When I get home I just want to play and hang with Ridgers! He is growing like a little weed! Unofficially, he's about 17 pounds and about 28 inches. We go for his 4-month shots in a couple weeks, so I'll update that. He is rolling over a lot now. He is laughing lots, playing in his exersaucer & we just tried the Johnny Jump-Up last night. He's not sure about that just yet. Here's some pics...

His legs look skinny hanging out of this jumper but they sooo aren't! He has the nickname Thunder thighs already! HA!

Ridge is now 3 months old! Can't believe it! I started back to work week before last & he's started daycare with Beth. He is getting stronger and more aware everyday!! Here's some new pics...

We just returned from Ridge's first big vacation in Destin, Florida with my family. This trip also included Ridge's first plane ride! He did pretty darn good too!

As I look at this blog, I realize it's just pictures of Ridge at our house! HA! It looks like we just sit around our house all day... but we so don't!! I just totally forget to take the camera (or if I have it, forget to take pictures) when we are out and about. Ridge is actually really used to be taken all over... he's been to the lake twice, the mall a few times, shopping with Mommy and Grand 'C' several times, out to lunch with Mommy a dozen times, spent the night at Grand 'C' and Grandpa Hendrix's many times, spent the night at Papa and BeeBee's, spent the night at Uncle Wade & Aunt Lauren's... We are 'go-ers'... Also, Ridge has been swimming several times. He's been swimming in both grandparents pool, and he loves the water! Here's some pics of him hangin' in his crab float!

Ridge is getting so big & growing so fast before my eyes. I sat him in his Bumbo chair this morning for the first time (while I sat about 2 inches away & held my hands around his head for the first 5 minutes! HA!). He did so good!! He held his head up & tolerated being in the chair almost 10 minutes. I think he really loved it & he interacted with mommy and daddy the whole time. He loves to suck on all things! Including his fist and fingers. This doesn't necessarily mean he's hungry either... he does it all the time!

During tummy time, he does really well to hold his head up, but he's got to be in the right mood for this or forget it! :)

Well, the heat is definately getting to us! Ridge had to go see his pediatrician and he has a heat rash. :( He had been cranky for a couple days and was basically not napping at all! He is feeling better today though, thank gosh! Here are some pictures from his 6th week in the world! :)

5 Weeks

Ridge is now five weeks old! He is definately becoming so much more aware of his surroundings and more active. His neck is super strong and he looks all around at his surroundings - especially when he is outside! He loves it outdoors until he gets hot & then he's a little crabby. He likes to ride in the car in his carseat. He is still rotten & sleeps with mommy although we've tried several times to let him cry in his crib... in the end we just can't listen to our baby scream for hours! We will have to get it figured out before mommy goes back to work on August though. So the countdown is on.

4 weeks!

We've made it to 4 weeks! I measured and weighed Ridge at home yesterday. He weighed 12.4 pounds and was 24 inches long. No change on the crib situation, but we've got him in there right now 'crying it out' :(! So sad! Here's some updated pictures of our baby boy.

3 weeks and counting

Ridge is now 3 weeks and 2 days. Here's some pictures of him doing his 'tummy time' and talking with Mommy. He is nursing consistently every 2 1/2 - 3 hours during the day. At night he's sleeping 4-6 hours and waking for feedings. Everyone keeps telling me this is pretty good for a 3-weeker! :) Now if I could just get him to sleep in his crib. LOL :)

Ridge's umbilical cord stump fell off when he was 7 days old, so we got the go-ahead for a regular bath.

Bringing Ridge Home

We were so excited to finally bring Ridge home! It seemed like we had to wait forever! I was discharged on Friday morning at 7:15... Ridge did not get discharged until around 3:00 pm on Saturday. The pediatrician wanted to continue to monitor the abrasion on his head from the vacuum that was used during delivery. Most of you already know - Ridge did not want to come out!! He was two weeks late & still had to be forced out of Hotel Uterus! He also was face up during the delivery (as opposed to face down, which I hear is a much easier way to deliver), so this further complicated things. And to make matters worse, he weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 22 inches long. But oh well, we all have our 'War Stories' and that's mine and Ridge's.
